Both Theo Shack and Angus Henderson of Croftworks have been invited to speak at this upcoming public symposium 'Valuing the Architectural Humanities', organised by Professors Mark Dorrian and Suzanne Ewing. The event will take place in West Court at Edinburgh College of Art and is jointly hosted by the Architectural Humanities Research Association.
We are honoured to be speaking alongside far more illustrious company including Neil Gillespie RIAS RSA OBE (Director of Reiach and Hall Architects), Libby Heathcote (RIAS president), Professor Marion Thain (Director of Edinburgh Futures Institute) and Professor Jolyon Mitchell (University of Durham).
The theme is: What is the work of architectural humanities today? A day of conversations and presentations that ask what and how researchers and practitioners value about architectural humanities and why this is relevant today. How does humanities-based knowledge contribute to architectural learning, professional judgement, ethical reasoning? What is the work of architectural humanities in responses to contemporary challenges such as artificial intelligence, climate change, and social responsibility? How do they ‘work’ in practice?
Tickets are free and publicly available online at Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/valuing-the-architectural-humanities-tickets-1998351359711. Friday 11 September 2026.
